John Lewis boss says shopping future is online amid an ‘earthquake’ of changing habits

There’s been an “earthquake” in the way people shop, says the boss of John Lewis.  Sharon White said the lockdown combined with the long term shift towards online shopping has brought ten years of change in just 12 months.

That’s left the partnership with a loss of more than £500 millions pounds. It means some department stores will not re-open after the lockdown and staff will receive no bonus for the first time in 68 years.
