Is the government asking for too much in Brexit bill?

The Government has been accused of asking for the powers of a tudor monarch in the Bill which will formally take Britain out of the EU. The debate on the European Union Withdrawal Bill started this afternoon. Labour and some Tory rebels say it gives ministers too much scope to make new laws without Parliamentary approval. The Brexit Secretary insisted that the powers were fairly standard, and a smooth and orderly Brexit would be impossible without them.
