Irish politicians fear UK Brexit plans could undermine Good Friday Agreement

The Internal Markets Bill has thrust the vexed issue of the border between Northern Ireland and the Republic back to centre stage in the Brexit negotiations.

The UK government’s plan to potentially backtrack on tariffs and customs checks has infuriated EU negotiators who warned it could sink a trade deal – as well as Irish politicians who claimed it could undermine the Good Friday peace agreement.
