In wartorn Mogadishu, the night time is providing safety and peace

For three decades now the Somali capital Mogadishu has been a conflict zone: fought over by warlords, foreign forces and now militants who terrorise the population with suicide bombings.

But even under the constant threat of bombardment – residents in the city have found a small breathing space.

The Al Shabaab militants don’t carry out their attacks at night – so after the violence and terror of daylight – the darkness finally brings some peace.
