Thousands of Syrians have fled their home country over the last decade as the Assad regime ramped up the war it was waging on its own people.
Many have sought refuge in the UK after undertaking long and dangerous journeys to get here.
Our communities editor, Darshna Soni, has been talking to some of them about their reaction to the momentous events of the last few days and whether they have the confidence to return, given that a peaceful transfer of power in the country is far from certain.
