Hungary’s Orban granted powers to rule by decree during coronavirus crisis

Hungary’s Prime Minister has secured sweeping new powers giving his government the unlimited right to rule by decree during the coronavirus crisis. Opposition figures said it means Hungarian democracy is now in quarantine.

Meanwhile, Spain has reported hundreds more deaths, but the World Health Organisation chief has said there should start to be a stabilisation in Spain and Italy’s epidemic – as a result of the lockdown and stringent measures now in place.
