How much should university vice-chancellors be paid?

With students now graduating with thousands of pounds of debt, the six-figure salaries of some university bosses have become a matter of hot debate.

Today universities minister Jo Johnson outlined plans for a crackdown.

Vice chancellors who pay themselves more than £150,000 will have to justify their yearly pay and the number of staff earning more than 100 thousand a year will have to be made public.
