Hotpoint and Indesit washing machines recalled over fire risk

More than half a million washing machines made by manufacturer Whirlpool are being recalled because of a fire risk.

UK households with Hotpoint or Indesit branded machines are being urged to unplug them immediately, as a flaw in the door-locking system means they can overheat.

Whirlpool was already dealing with the problem of some of their tumble dryers – which also carry a fire risk.
