Hospitals hit by shortage of protective equipment and crucial drugs

While the shortage of PPE in hospitals is well-known, Intensive Care Units around the country are also running short of crucial drugs as the coronavirus crisis puts the supply chain under increasing strain.

At the same time, the first of three planes meant to bring 400,000 protective hospital gowns from Turkey is still on its way to pick them up, as officials insist they are working flat out to get NHS staff what they need.
