Hong Kong media tycoon Jimmy Lai has been sentenced to 14 months in jail for his role in the mass pro-democracy demonstrations which swept the territory in 2019.

A number of other activists were also sentenced in the latest blow against Hong Kong’s pro-democracy movement.

Mr Lai, who’s 73, also faces other charges under the controversial national security law which carry a maximum term of life in prison.
