‘Historical misfortune that person unqualified to be president’ in office during pandemic – historian Francis Fukuyama

He predicted the end of history and the triumph of western democracy. But even before the coronavirus crisis –  Francis Fukuyama’s thesis was already looking shaky as populist and authoritarian governments grew in strength around the world.

Now with the new world order looking increasingly uncertain – earlier Krishnan Guru-Murthy spoke to him about the future and where history might take us next.

He began by asking him what determines if a country is able to deal well or not with the current pandemic.
