Half a million call for reversal of decision to strip Uber’s London licence

Anger is growing over the decision not to renew the London operating licence of taxi firm Uber. More than half a million people have now signed a petition calling for the ruling to be reversed. But the Mayor of London today stood by the move saying passengers’ safety and security were paramount and that the anger should be directed at Uber. The row is also being closely followed in dozens of other towns and cities where the taxi hailing app operates.

And we are joined by Rosh Varma who drives a black taxi and is a member of the United Cabbies Group, and Syed Khalil who currently works as a driver for Uber.
