Haiti president’s funeral disrupted by violence

International Editor

The funeral for Haiti’s murdered president, Jovenel Moise, has been disrupted by violence.

Foreign dignitaries were whisked away as tear gas wafted into the compound and mourners shouted abuse at the police chief, who some blame for failing to protect the president.

Mr Moise was shot dead two weeks ago and a group of mostly Colombian mercenaries were arrested, although it’s not clear who instructed them.

The late president’s supporters in his home town of Cap-Haitien, where the funeral was held, are demanding justice.
