Government taking ‘urgent action’ to help Windrush generation

They should be in no doubt of their right to remain: this from the Home Secretary tonight after a deal with Caribbean leaders over the Windrush fiasco.

And a promise, finally, of security to those who came here as children and have lived here ever since. After talks with the High Commissioners from Barbados and St Kitts and Nevis, Amber Rudd said the government was taking urgent action to help those affected get the documentation they need as soon as possible.

Our Home Affairs Correspondent Simon Israel has been speaking to the High Commissioners who met the Home Secretary today about the ‘deal’, as well as one man who was unable to work for 2 years.
