Government releases new guidance on wearing face masks in England

In Scotland, masks are already compulsory in shops.

Wales is still deciding whether to follow suit, while Northern Ireland today announced masks could become mandatory in its shops from 20 August.

From midnight tonight in England, shoppers will have to wear masks. Ministers this afternoon finally spelled out how the new rules would affect English takeaway food customers – much to the annoyance of takeaway bosses who were given just hours to train staff.
