Government programme to help sexual violence survivors in Congo lacked leadership and strategy, says report

A flagship government programme to help survivors of sexual violence in conflict lacked leadership, strategy and had its funding cut, according to a report by the UK watchdog on international aid.

William Hague championed the policy when he was Foreign Secretary in the Cameron government – aided by the Hollywood star of Angelina Jolie. But when Mr Hague was demoted so was the policy.
