The Government has abandoned plans for all English primary school children to return to class by the end of the summer

The Government has abandoned plans for all English primary school children to return to class by the end of the summer – as officials revealed that only half of primary schools in England actually opened last week.

The Education Secretary Gavin Williamson said a long term plan would be needed to help pupils get over damage done to their education by the lockdown – insisting the aim was to bring all children back to school by September.
