Government accused of failing to protect care home residents in England

Health and Social Care Editor

The government has come under fire once again for its record on care homes. The head of the organisation which represents care homes in England has criticised ministers for failing to protect vulnerable residents while instead prioritising the NHS.

He was speaking to the health select committee which also heard from a professor in Hong Kong, where despite having a population of seven and half million, he said there has not been a single death reported from the virus in a care home.

Our health and social care editor Victoria Macdonald reports.
