G7 nations pledge to phase out coal without setting deadline

Officials from the G7 nations have pledged to phase out coal power, eventually, although they didn’t commit to a specific deadline.

At the end of their summit in Berlin, energy and environment ministers also agreed a major step towards ending financing of fossil fuel projects abroad and supporting vulnerable countries affected by climate change.

And with Russia’s war in Ukraine, the transition to greener sources of energy is all the more acute.
