Further easing of England’s lockdown restrictions from Saturday

Reporter

The government says it’s imposing the new quarantine rules to keep infection rates low. But the Scientific Advisory Group for Emergencies (SAGE) has warned that they no longer have confidence the R rate in England is below one – the rate at which the infections decrease.

And in today’s other developments, 11 deaths of positive cases were recorded in the past 24 hours – bringing the total number to 41,358 and just over 1,400 people have tested positive.

And the restaurant chain Yo! Sushi is cutting 250 jobs in a bid to protect its long-term future.

From tomorrow, some restrictions in England will be eased.
