Fracking tsar resigns over ‘ridiculous’ restrictions

In October she was appointed as the UK’s first Shale Gas Commissioner.

Today Natascha Engel handed in her notice. In her resignation letter, Ms Engel wrote that the fracking industry is “in danger of withering on the vine”.

She says that rules forcing the suspension of fracking operations every time there is a tremor of more than 0.5 magnitude amount to a “de facto ban”.
