Fears of childcare shortage in England after lockdown

There could soon be a national shortage of childcare provision, according to a new report, which warns that some nurseries and childminders in England could be forced to close altogether without more financial support.

The research by the Institute for Fiscal Studies said that closures during lockdown put huge pressure on providers’ incomes, and many expect to continue making a loss over the coming months.
