Farmers to be paid for improving wildlife under post-Brexit farming policy changes

Tens of thousands of farms rely heavily on subsidies from the EU – and the more land you own, the more money you get.

But the plan is to phase out these payments completely, over seven years, replacing them with a scheme that rewards things like planting woodlands and improving wildlife.

But, at a time when imported food could cost more, could it push up prices further?
