Families desperate and ICUs full as Covid cases rise in Uganda

In Africa just two percent of people are vaccinated. It has just seen the worst surge in Covid cases since the pandemic began, with cases now doubling every 18 days.

The World Health Organization has warned there’s not much time left to stop cases spiralling still further before health care systems across the continent get overwhelmed.

The highly infectious Delta variant has been found in at least 16 countries – while in Uganda, it’s been identified in all but a tiny fraction of samples.
