European leaders’ tough message for Theresa May’s successor

EU leaders greeted Theresa May with hugs, kisses and a show of sympathy at their first Brussels summit since the European elections. They also had a tough message for her successor, insisting that there was no chance of renegotiating the withdrawal agreement.

On her way in to the meeting the Prime Minister said whoever followed her into Number 10 would have to find a way of achieving consensus.

Eleven Conservative MPs have now said they will challenge for the job.
