EU ministers agree UK trade talks red lines

EU ministers have agreed their opening position for post-Brexit trade talks with the UK.

The 46-page mandate will be the basis for the EU’s negotiations – led by Michel Barnier – which are set to begin next week. The document talks of upholding “common high standards… with Union standards as a reference point” – likely to be at odds with Boris Johnson’s desire to break away from EU regulations.
