EU Chief Brexit Negotiator Michel Barnier rules out Theresa May’s Chequers plan

The European Union’s Chief Brexit negotiator Michel Barnier, has given a thumbs down to the customs proposal at the heart of Theresa May’s Brexit White Paper.

At a Brussels press conference with Brexit Secretary Dominic Raab he said the EU will not allow a non-member any control over its customs and excise policy.

Mr Raab indicated that as Theresa May had moved in the EU’s direction, he was looking for compromise from Brussels in return.
