Ethiopia elections billed as country’s first test of democracy

In Ethiopia, 37 million people are going to the polls in elections that are being billed as the first test of democracy in the country. Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed is expected to win but voting in some areas has been delayed because of violence and some opposition parties are boycotting the election. The UN today said it is deeply disturbed by ongoing reports of violence in the northern Tigray region.
