Effie Stilwell case closes, ending parents ‘unimaginable horror’

Effie Stilwell was just five months old when she collapsed and was rushed to hospital. When her condition had been assessed, her father was arrested on suspicion of grievous bodily harm and she was sent to live with foster carers. Months of legal proceedings followed and eventually experts ruled that Effie has a rare syndrome that causes easy bruising. They even found her mother has it too. Today a judge said the “unimaginable horror” that her parents had endured should come to an end.
