Ed Davey elected Lib Dem leader

The Liberal Democrat leadership contest saw Sir Ed Davey, who has been the acting leader since December, clearly beat off rival Layla Moran today.

In his acceptance speech he acknowledged they had “lost touch” with voters and that his challenge was to rebuild the party to “national relevance”.
