Eastern Ghouta bombarded, as doubts cast over Syria ceasefire resolution

Aid needs to get in, the wounded need to get out. Syrian forces have kept up their relentless bombardment of the rebel-held suburb of eastern Ghouta, with anti-government activists saying more than 30 people were killed there today.

But a UN resolution calling for a 30-day ceasefire that was expected to go to the Security Council today is looking unlikely, after Russia demanded amendments deemed “unacceptable” by other countries.
