DUP says it will vote against PM’s post Brexit deal

Political Editor

The Democratic Unionist party has declared it will vote against the deal Rishi Sunak struck with the European Union last month to sort out Northern Ireland’s post-Brexit trade borders.

The Windsor Framework, which MPs will vote on this week, includes a measure called the Stormont Brake.  That gives Northern Ireland assembly members the chance to object to EU trade rules but the DUP is worried that it doesn’t go far enough.

We did ask a number of DUP MPs and members of the Northern Ireland Assembly to come on but no one was available. The UK Government’s Northern Ireland Office also declined our request for a minister to talk to us.
