General Medical Council appeal to strike off doctor convicted of manslaughter

A doctor involved in the tragic death of a six-year-old boy was found guilty of gross manslaughter at trial in 2015, and subsequently suspended by the Medical Practitioners Tribunal.

Now the General Medical Council is taking the case to appeal, saying she should have been struck off. But hundreds of doctors have expressed their support for the pediatrician, saying that pursuing her will “promote a climate of defensiveness” among medics.
