Cuadrilla calls for fracking rules to be relaxed

The fracking company Cuadrilla says there is a “rich reservoir” of high-quality natural gas at its test site in Lancashire, but warned that safety rules on earthquakes, which the process causes, are too strict and must be relaxed.

The shale gas firm revealed it had only been able to frack a tiny fraction of its well near Blackpool, where it’s been repeatedly forced to down tools because of earth tremors. So does that put paid to commercially viable fracking?
