Covid: Portugal, Spain and Malta to restrict UK travellers

It’s reported today that the UK and the EU could be on the brink of a deal over Covid vaccine passports, potentially giving the green light to holidays abroad. The EU’s Covid passport starts operating for people who have been vaccinated from 1 July.

But German Chancellor Angela Merkel is currently demanding that even vaccinated Britons quarantine in the EU, because of rising case numbers here. Boris Johnson is meeting her this week and is expected to press her to relent. Spain, Portugal and Malta have all now announced restrictions on British tourists.
