Coronavirus: shares plunge in worst day for markets since financial crisis

It’s been the worst single day fall since the 2008 financial crisis – stock markets around the world tumbling – at one point screens went so red, all trading in US shares was briefly suspended.

Fear over the spread of corona virus was compounded by plunging oil prices – caused by a row between Russia and Saudi Arabia.
