The Windrush generation dominated Prime Minister’s Questions. Theresa May and Jeremy Corbyn argued furiously about who was responsible for the destruction of the original landing cards that could have helped some Commonwealth citizens prove their right to remain in Britain. Jeremy Corbyn blamed Theresa May for running a “callous and incompetent” government. Theresa May apologised to anyone who had mistakenly received letters questioning their right to remain in Britain. This evening, the Home Office says a total of 113 people have called the Government hotline set up for members of the Windrush generation.
