Conspiracy theories encouraged by Trump converge in act of violence

All this high drama is coinciding with the worst week so far for Covid infections in the US.

Yesterday more than 4,000 deaths were recorded, a dismal record in a pandemic which has been badly mismanaged by a president who flirts with alternative facts.

Ever since he got involved in politics, Donald Trump has encouraged conspiracy theories as long as they damaged his opponents. On Wednesday these theories converged in an act of violence that shook America to the core.
