Back to election news now and a local BBC radio presenter who said women should ‘keep their knickers on’ to avoid being raped – has been chosen as a Conservative candidate for parliament. Boris Johnson called Nick Conrad’s comments ‘unacceptable’ – but said he had apologised long ago. Mr Conrad made the comments in 2014.

The Labour candidate Jessica Barnard said  ‘people deserved better’ and the Liberal Democrat candidate Ben Goodwin said the comments were vile. Our reporter @SymeonBrown spoke to Mr Conrad in the Broadland constituency in Norfolk.
