Co-writer of Sex Pistols’ ‘God Save the Queen’ reveals updated version and lyrics for Charles

It was the anthem designed for the Queen’s jubilee year, but not in the way supporters of monarchy wanted.

The Sex Pistols’ ‘God Save the Queen’ was released in 1977 and reached number two in the charts – many suspecting that officialdom kept it off the number one spot.

Now the Pistols’ bassist Glen Matlock, who co-wrote the punk anthem, has updated it to reflect Charles’s elevation to top spot.
