Church of England failed to protect children from sexual abuse, says report

Instead of providing care and love for the innocent and vulnerable, it put its own reputation first.

A damning report has accused the Anglican Church of neglecting children by failing to take abuse allegations seriously.

The latest report from the Independent Inquiry into Child Sexual Abuse finds that 390 convicted offenders were associated with the Church of England between the 1940s and 2018 – but concludes that it’s “not possible to accurately identify the scale of sexual offending within the Church”.
