Child abuse victims face long wait for justice, figures suggest

The victims of child sexual abuse are facing an increasingly long wait for justice.

Figures exclusively shared with this programme reveal the average time between a defendant accused of child abuse being charged, and their criminal trial starting in England and Wales has increased by more than 40% in four years.

Waiving her right to anonymity, one survivor said she lived in fear of her abuser while waiting over two years for the court process to end.
