Chewbacca actor Peter Mayhew dies at 74

You may not recognise his face, but he played one of the most iconic film roles of all time – the actor Peter Mayhew has died at the age of 74. He was the gentle giant Wookiee warrior from Star Wars, Chewbacca – a character loved by millions of fans around the world. His family said he had put his “heart and soul” into the role and that it showed in “every frame”. His co-star and on-screen sidekick Harrison Ford said simply: “I loved him.”
