Charities call for end to palliative care ‘lottery’

Health and Social Care Correspondent

The death of any child from a terminal illness is devastating for parents, but families say it can be made even worse if there is not help and support to look after that child in the last days and months of their life.

Now six charities have come together, asking for an end to what they call the “cruel postcode lottery” which means some get families get the help and support needed, while others don’t.

One mother, who says her son died a good death, has now written a book to help families and children prepare for those final days.
