Channel 4 News sweeps TV journalism awards after Cambridge Analytica scoop

In a record night for Channel 4 News, the programme took home a total of seven gongs at the prestigious Royal Television Society awards. As well as multiple awards for the Cambridge Analytica investigation, the programme was also named Daily News Programme of the Year.

As well as multiple awards for the Cambridge Analytica investigation, the programme was also named Daily News Programme of the Year.

Our ‘Data, Democracy and Dirty Tricks’ series, won Best Home and Best International Coverage. This series included our undercover investigation into Cambridge Analytica, which also won Scoop of the Year.

Judges said it was “a global scoop that changed the way the world works” and “a profoundly important and significant piece of television”.

Meanwhile, our reporter Andy Davies won Television Journalist of the Year. And reporter Anja Popp won Young Talent of the Year.

Channel 4 News also won the Independent Award for The ‘Death Train’ to Americas Border, by our Latin America correspondent Guillermo Galdos and producer/ director Thom Walker.

Judges said Channel 4 News had “the greatest journalistic excellence throughout the year, with its ground-breaking investigations, high impact journalism at home and abroad, and powerful interviews”.

The editor of Channel 4 News, Ben De Pear said: “Last night was a truly wonderful achievement, not only for our Investigations Team led by Job Rabkin, the the truly superb Andy Davies, Anja Popp and Guillermo Galdos, but for everyone at Channel 4 News who strive every day to make the best possible news programme and journalism.
