Care home residents in England finally able to meet and hold hands with a loved one

Imagine not being able to hold your husband or wife’s hands for nearly a year. Anyone with a loved one in a care home will know the pain of separation brought by Covid restrictions.

From today, care home residents in England are allowed to have face to face visits again. Nominated visitors must take a Covid test first and can’t hug or kiss their loved ones. But they can hold their hands.

It’s a day many, like David and Anthea Capewell from Nottinghamshire, have been longing for. We went to meet them at Wren Hall nursing home.
