California announces state of emergency as wildfires surge overnight

Rapidly spreading wildfires have triggered a state of emergency in parts of California. The fires have now spread over 51,000 acres of the Klamath National Forest, whipped up by thunderstorms and strong winds overnight.

The rapid growth in the fires have prompted the evacuation of over a hundred homes.
