Tennis, the one sport that can go either way

I’m a notoriously poor forecaster of sports results but I indulge like so many others in the sport of nonsense: sport psychiatry.

I thought England would beat France in Euro 2012. Well, they didn’t but it was a surprise draw. Today… I think a Scotsman like Murray will do well in the rain (even though the roof will likely stay closed on Centre Court).

I have believed that since Rafael Nadal got beaten, Andy’s time has come.

His form is great. The only question is his mind. And this time round I think he’s got it. So yes Andy Murray to win today. Andy Murray to win the crown too.

In the end I’m not the greatest observer of tennis but I love playing it, and strangely I’m even under the illusion that I’m getting better. I confess I’m a doubles man.

Why tennis? Because it’s the one great sport that can always go either way, however good you are. It is so often mind over matter.

Andy’s matter has been great for years..his mind? He’s like all of us: he just has to believe, and believe, and believe.
