British mother’s Dominica nightmare

Nicola Yankee, from Nottingham, moved to the Caribbean island of Dominica nine years ago, only to see her home ruined when Hurricane Maria struck last month. She says she was told to leave the island by the authorities on the ground, but on her return with her young son, she found she was unable to claim benefits or get access to housing and says she’s been forced to live with her disabled mother in her one-bedroom flat. But things might be about to change for the better.
