British government resisting return of Chagos islanders

Fifty years ago that all changed for the people of the Chagos Islands, when Britain, as the colonial master, reached an agreement with America to build a vast military site.

For the people who were forced out, the campaign to return home has been painful and long drawn out – with the British government fighting every step of the way.
